Hello, friends! Welcome to Gardening with Creekside. Today, we have a very exciting project on our hands – installing a fountain at the Signature Garden at the nursery. But before we dive into it, I have to mention that fall is finally here. The wind is blowing, the air is cool and dry, and it's absolutely glorious. So, if you hear the wind in the background on my microphone, I won't apologize for it because we're loving this cool and crisp air. It's late September, and fun things are happening. Join us as we take you along for the ride while we install the fountain in the Signature Garden. It's going to be the centerpiece of the garden, and we can't wait to get it in place.
We won't be turning on the fountain or setting up the running water just yet. We do have power connected to it, but our primary goal today is to get the structure in place. This fountain is quite substantial and heavy, so we want it securely installed before we start working on the surrounding beds.
As I stand here in the shade, you can see Andrew and Jerry hard at work in the Signature Garden. The area you see with the concrete pad will be the formal size of the Signature Garden. However, this garden will also feature flower beds along the creek and in the woods. We have big plans to take full advantage of our beautiful environment.
The four corners of the garden are marked with rebar posts and strings, ensuring that the fountain will be perfectly centered. It's essential to get this right to make a striking impact. The fountain's basin is an impressive five feet in diameter, and we want to elevate it slightly to make it even more prominent. We'll surround it with a circular flower bed and create walkways around the area.
Now, let's take a closer look at the fountain itself. It's a three-tier Royal Fountain from Unique Stone, and it's the largest one they make. We ordered it well in advance, and it's fortunate we did because some of their larger fountains have been discontinued. We have the fountain's whispering pool basin, which is massive, as well as the various levels and pieces. The water will flow out of the top finial, which is shaped like a pineapple. Today, our goal is not to make it fully functional but to get the fountain set up in its designated spot.
The process begins with Jerry and Andrew preparing the ground, ensuring a level and solid foundation for the heavy fountain. They have to build up a pad and compact it properly. Once the pad is ready, they carefully lower the basin into place. It's a tedious process, but it's essential to get it level and centered correctly.
With the basin securely in place, it's time to assemble the fountain's various levels and components. Unique Stone provides all the necessary parts, including the pump and tubing. Each piece must be precisely positioned to maintain balance and symmetry. Even the smallest details matter to ensure the fountain looks perfect.
As we reach the final stages of assembly, we're almost ready for the grand reveal. The fountain is now in place, and it's an exciting moment. We have to admire the fountain's beauty even without the water running. It's a significant milestone in our garden project.
Next steps include adding a layer of compost blend to the entire pad, running irrigation lines, and forming the flower beds. Each bed will have its own access point to the irrigation system, ensuring proper care for the plants. We'll also have a paved path leading to the fountain and various landscaping elements to complete the garden's look.
We can't wait to start planting and see the Signature Garden come to life. Our grand opening is planned for the spring, and we're looking forward to sharing this beautiful space with everyone. Thank you for your support and encouragement as we embark on this exciting gardening adventure at Creekside Nursery. Stay tuned for more updates, and we appreciate you joining us on this journey. See you in the next video! Goodbye, friends!
