Echinacea SOMBRERO® ‘Salsa Red’ (Coneflower)
Echinacea SOMBRERO® ‘Salsa Red’ turns up the heat in the summer garden with vibrant, spicy orange-red blooms and rich orange-brown cones. A standout in the SOMBRERO® Series, this variety produces full, overlapping petals that create a bold, polished look on sturdy, well-branched plants. Freely blooming from early through late summer, it provides continuous color and a reliable food source for pollinators and birds alike.
Like all SOMBRERO® varieties, ‘Salsa Red’ is compact, uniform, and easy to grow — thriving in full sun and well-drained soil. It requires no vernalization to flower and is both heat and drought tolerant once established. The dried seed heads add striking texture and visual interest in the winter landscape while feeding goldfinches and other birds.
Why It’s a Creekside Champion™:
We love SOMBRERO® ‘Salsa Red’ for its bold, fiery color, tidy habit, and long-lasting blooms that keep pollinators happy and gardens glowing all season.
