Viola 'Heartthrob'
Common Name: Violet
Viola 'Heartthrob' brings striking color and charming texture to shaded garden spaces with its beautifully patterned, heart-shaped foliage. Each leaf features a rich burgundy center surrounded by a bright green margin, creating a dramatic contrast that immediately draws the eye. Its distinctive coloring gives this compact perennial plenty of presence despite its petite size.
Forming a low, attractive mound, 'Heartthrob' is an excellent choice for the front of garden borders, tucked beneath larger perennials and shrubs, or planted in groups as a colorful ground cover. It also performs beautifully in containers, where its intricate foliage can be appreciated up close and paired with other shade-loving plants.
Thriving in part shade to full shade, 'Heartthrob' provides dependable foliage interest in areas where bold color can sometimes be difficult to achieve. Its combination of deep burgundy and fresh green makes it an especially useful companion for plants with chartreuse, silver, or solid green foliage.
Why it's a Creekside Champion™
Viola 'Heartthrob' stands apart with its unmistakable heart-shaped leaves and dramatic burgundy-and-green coloring. The richly colored centers create beautiful contrast against the bright green edges, providing season-long interest without relying on flowers to make an impact. Its compact, low-growing habit makes it incredibly versatile, whether used to edge a shaded border, create a colorful ground cover, or add distinctive foliage to a container. Charming, dependable, and wonderfully unique, 'Heartthrob' proves that sometimes the foliage can be every bit as captivating as the flowers.
