GLOW GIRL® Birchleaf Spirea
Spiraea betulifolia
If you're looking for a shrub that truly shines in northern gardens, Glow Girl® Birch Leaf Spirea is your golden ticket. This standout variety is a glowing, gold-leaf version of the beloved ‘Tor’—but with even more seasonal interest. In spring, its red-tinted buds open into crisp white blooms that pop against the sunny yellow foliage. The color holds beautifully all summer long without fading or burning, even in full sun.
Come fall, Glow Girl delivers yet another show with brilliant autumn hues, rounding out its year-long display. Its tidy, compact habit makes it a perfect fit for borders, mass plantings, or mixed beds. Plus, it’s extremely hardy (yes, even in cold northern zones), heat tolerant, and native to North America. This is one of those shrubs that does it all—color, structure, and low maintenance.
Why we love it:
-
Bright yellow foliage that won’t burn in summer sun
-
White spring flowers and glowing fall color
-
Hardy, heat-tolerant, and compact for easy landscape use
