Description
Description
Panicum virgatum Prairie Winds® ‘Niagara Falls’ (Switch Grass)
Prairie Winds® ‘Niagara Falls’ is a striking native ornamental grass that brings graceful movement, texture, and four-season beauty to the landscape. With its notably wide, arching habit, this variety mimics the look of Miscanthus but features the signature powdery blue foliage of Switch Grass. In late summer and fall, airy sprays of cream-colored seed heads rise above the leaves, catching the light beautifully and adding soft contrast.
As the seasons progress, the foliage takes on warm fall tones and the seed heads provide winter interest while feeding birds. Exceptionally drought tolerant and low maintenance, ‘Niagara Falls’ thrives in full sun and a range of soils, making it a durable and versatile choice for naturalized plantings, borders, or as a soft screening grass.
