Ligustrum 'Sunshine'
Description
Description
The Sunshine Ligustrum is a breakthrough shrub that combines bold color with worry-free performance. Unlike invasive privets, this sterile cultivar never blooms or sets seed, making it safe, allergy-friendly, and easy to enjoy. Its evergreen foliage emerges in brilliant gold when grown in full sun, shifting to chartreuse in part shade, ensuring a luminous effect all year. Growing 3–6 feet tall and 3–4 feet wide, Sunshine Ligustrum keeps a dense, upright form ideal for hedges, topiaries, or specimen accents.
Why We Love It
At Creekside, we love shrubs that add instant brightness without extra effort, and Sunshine Ligustrum does exactly that. Its glowing foliage brings contrast to darker evergreens and a perfect backdrop for colorful perennials. With no flowers, no pollen, and no reseeding, it’s as low-maintenance as it gets. Heat tolerance, deer resistance, and adaptability to clay and coastal soils make it one of the most versatile golden shrubs you can grow.
