Plant Needs
The Berry Box® Pyracomeles is a breakthrough shrub that delivers four-season beauty with almost no care. In spring, clusters of small white, five-petaled flowers sparkle against its fine-textured evergreen foliage. By fall, the blooms give way to heavy clusters of berries that ripen from brilliant orange to cheerful red as winter approaches. With its dense, mounded habit at 24–42 inches tall and wide, Berry Box adds glowing color and graceful texture all year long.
Not only beautiful, this shrub is tough and easy to grow. It thrives in full sun to part shade, resists common pests and diseases, and needs only average soil and water. Its naturally quirky growth habit looks best unpruned, but if shaping is desired, light trimming in spring after new growth emerges is all that’s needed.
Why We Love It
At Creekside, we love shrubs that surprise and delight across the seasons, and Berry Box does just that. Its berry display rivals much larger plants, yet it stays compact enough for small gardens and containers. With flowers, foliage, and fruit all adding to its charm, it’s a high-impact plant that doesn’t ask for much in return.
