Providing the same ease and beauty of A. 'Serendipity', 'Bobblehead' is a much larger and robust plant, boasting bigger blooms, an earlier bloom time and a lighter-colored flower. Midsummer brings globe-like 3-3½" pale lilac flowers which last many weeks before leaving behind satisfyingly spherical seedheads. Each individual leaf has it's own twist and the foliage is a beautiful glaucous blue-green. Sunny spaces and good drainage will produce the best results, but 'Bobblehead' is capable of surviving in a wide variety of soils, while also being drought and heat tolerant. If the foliage is bruised or the clump cut into, the plant will emit a strong onion smell, making it more deer and rabbit resistant.
Alliums offer the perfect charm for rock or herb gardens. Honeybees and butterflies love the sweet nectar.
Common Name: Ornamental Onion
