Allium ‘Lavender Bubbles’ (Ornamental Onion)
As summer winds down, Allium ‘Lavender Bubbles’ brings a burst of late-season color and texture to the garden. Perfectly rounded globes of deep dusty purple blooms rise above a base of glaucous blue-green foliage, whose twisting, curling leaves add visual interest even when not in bloom. Compared to the ever-popular ‘Millenium’, ‘Lavender Bubbles’ flowers later in the season and offers a richer, darker hue — extending the beauty of ornamental onions well into fall.
Carefree and dependable, ‘Lavender Bubbles’ is a low-maintenance perennial that thrives in full sun to part shade and adapts easily to a range of soil types, including clay. The fragrant foliage naturally deters deer and rabbits, while its nectar-rich flowers draw butterflies and pollinators in abundance.
Why It’s a Creekside Champion:
We love ‘Lavender Bubbles’ for its unique late-season bloom time, rich purple color, and outstanding resilience — a perfect mix of beauty, structure, and pollinator appeal for the sunny border.
