Clematis HAPPY JACK® Purple | Proven Winners®
Description
Description
Big blooms, rich color, and hardly any fuss—Happy Jack® Purple Clematis checks all the boxes for a show-stopping yet easygoing vine. This award-winning variety delivers velvety plum-purple flowers with glowing yellow stamens and striking center highlights. Blooming on both old and new wood, it graces your garden from mid-summer all the way into fall, with blooms measuring 3–5 inches across. You’ll enjoy reliable color year after year—just prune it back to about 2 feet each spring, and let the magic happen.
Happy Jack is more than just beautiful—it’s also tough and resilient. This clematis thrives in sun or part shade, is resistant to common clematis diseases, and doesn’t mind a little pruning. Just tuck its roots beneath a layer of mulch or let it grow near a low shrub to keep the base cool. Perfect for covering trellises, fences, mailboxes, or adding a pop of color to a pergola.
Why we love it:
-
Rich, velvety purple blooms bigger and bolder than 'Jackmanii'
-
Blooms on both old and new wood for a long flowering window
-
Low-maintenance, disease-resistant, and easy to prune
