Carex oshimensis EverColor® 'Everillo'

Carex oshimensis EverColor® 'Everillo'

‘Everillo’ – Vibrant Evergreen Sedge for Shaded Gardens.

This stunning sport of ‘Evergold’ offers the same reliable performance as its parent but features brilliant, solid gold leaves. Its long, arching blades emerge chartreuse green near the base, transitioning to vibrant golden yellow with UV exposure. Delicate tan inflorescences rise just above the foliage, adding subtle texture.

Like ‘Evergold,’ this low-growing, evergreen sedge is perfect for rock gardens or as a cascading spiller in containers. For the most intense golden hue, plant in a spot with morning sun. In deep shade, the foliage retains a soft chartreuse tone. Thrives in moist soils. Bred by Pat Fitzgerald.

Maintenance Notes:

Pests & Diseases

Carex is susceptible to aphids, mealybugs, and slugs. Common diseases include rust and crown/root rot.

Potting & Growth Timing

Small plugs are ideal for quart and trade 1-gallon containers.

Large plugs are recommended for quick-turn spring planting in trade 1-gallon containers or slightly larger pots.

Moisture Requirements

Carex ‘Evergold’ prefers moderate to slightly dry conditions.

Moisture-loving varieties (Bowles Golden, Ice Dance, Banana Boat, Snow Cap) require consistent moisture and should not dry out.

Planting Depth

Position the crown level with the soil surface.

Pruning & Growth Regulation

Carex can be lightly trimmed if needed, but avoid excessive cutting.
